MEN had the chance to experience just how tough the Curves workout could be during a special trial at the Orange women-only gym’s first open day on Saturday.

It was the only time men have been allowed inside the gym to test out the routine, which is based on a strength training circuit.
The general consensus among participants was that it was not “girly” and a very serious workout.
Dean Sutherland took part in the one-off 30-minute workout, which alternated between hydraulic machines to work opposing muscle groups and cardiovascular activities.
“My wife is the instructor,” Mr Sutherland huffed as he used the leg press.
“I thought it was girly but it’s not.”
Gym member Karen Williams looked on as the men sweated their way around the circuit.
“It gives them a bit of an idea what we do here. They say ‘half an hour! What can you do in that?’ but they’ll soon see,” she said.
Saturday was also a chance to launch the new equipment and redesigned circuit at the gym.
Member Katrina Duff said she hoped new members would be inspired to pursue their fitness and weight-loss goals.
“It doesn’t feel like a gym to me. The continuous support is fantastic. All the staff know your name, it’s like a family here,” she said.
“It’s about image in other gyms, but there’s not one inch of judgement ever.”
