At next Thursday’s session in Orange parents, carers and grandparents will be given an insight into building the foundations for families and building nurturing skills.

On Friday the same topics will be covered in the session to be held at Molong.

“Our course which runs until September is designed for anyone who may have a new baby right through to a teenager to gain more skills,” said program co-ordinator Bev Rankin.

“This isn’t about helping people who are bad parents, it is about giving people more skills because parenting can be very challenging at times,” said Mrs Rankin.

“In this day and age many people including other family members and grandparents are involved in bringing up children, and this course we are offering is designed to help them all,” Mrs Rankin  said .

The families course covers eight key areas of family relationships and forms a framework to build a healthy, strong and loving family life.

The sessions include presentations by trained Families Course educators, discussion and sharing of ideas to equip families at all stages.

The sessions which run until September 4 in Orange and September 5 in Molong cover topics such as understanding ages and stages in a child’s development, remaining positive during the parenting and caring process, building relationships, encouraging independence, dealing with conflict and discipline.

The sessions are held after work from 6.15pm - 9.30pm in Orange.

Molong times are slightly different and you will need to call Mrs Rankin on 53102474 for more details or to register for the Orange or Molong course.

The cost is $60 per person and $30 concession and individual payment arrangements can be made.

Cost per couple is $70 or $40 per couple for the concession price.

The cost includes workbooks and supper or morning tea for Orange and Molong.
