THREE Orange bowlers will represent NSW Southern at the 2015 Australian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships.

Nick Flannery earned a spot in the NSW Southern side for the second year in a row, while Alicia McFadden and Georgina Clark made their way into the team for the first time.

The trio all qualified for the team after the roll-offs held at Bateau Bay and Lidcombe’s Tenpin City earlier this month.

All three were happy to finish in the top five in their divisions and earn spots in the NSW Southern team.

Those competing for places in the team bowled eight games at Bateau Bay followed by another eight at Tenpin City.

Flannery, 16, qualified second in the boys’ division but said he found the roll-off difficult.

“There was pressure because there were more bowlers this year,” Flannery explained.

“I thought if I did my own thing and bowled well, then I’d make it.”

It was the first time McFadden, 13, and Clark, 15, had contested the roll-off and they proved they were up to the challenge in the girls’ division.

McFadden qualified second and was only bumped out of the top spot in the final frame of qualifying.

Clark qualified third after she controlled her nerves.

The NSW Southern team will contest the President’s Shield, an inter-state competition, at next year’s Australian Junior Championships.

Flannery won silver with NSW Southern at this year’s event and is hoping to go one better in 2015.

He will have extra representative commitments after qualifying for the NSW Youth team for the National Youth Teams Challenge in January.

Before that, Flannery, and four other Orange bowlers, will represent the NSW juniors at next month’s East Coast Championship.
