Come Saturday, this group of Emus will have done it twice.
And that’s in the space of two weeks.
Comprising of 16 boys and one girl, the Orange Emus under 9s wallas team will tackle the Dee Why Lions as part of the curtain-raiser to the Wallabies and All Blacks Bledisloe Cup showdown at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
The trip comes just a week after the Wallabies rode into Orange as part of the Bush2Bledisloe tour, and with the chance to witness history - none of these Emus have seen a victorious Bledisloe Cup campaign in their lives - being part of the experience was an opportunity too good to refuse.
“It’s an experience for them,” Tom Toberty said, the man who nominated the team to be part of the Wallabies experience.
“Also to develop their love of rugby and to see, as a team, a Bledisloe Cup match, their country versus New Zealand, as a group.”
After tackling Dee Why, Emus will assemble behind the goal posts where the Wallabies will be warming up.
The team may also form part of the guard of honour when the Wallabies run on.
The last time the Wallabies claimed the Bledisloe Cup was in 2002.
