ROBIN Hood Orange Glass and Life Studio clash on Saturday in an Orange Netball Association Toyota Cup top-of-the-table battle of the heavyweights.

Robin Hood currently leads the Toyota Cup, just two points in front of Life Studio, and with both sides expected to win their final two regular season games, Saturday’s clash will almost certainly decide the minor premiership.

“The minor premiership isn’t on the girls’ minds at all,” Robin Hood coach Cindy Gilchrist said.

“We’re really just looking forward to a good game. Results this year have been slightly one sided so it will be good to have a strong hit out.”

“I don’t think it’s so much about the minor premiership for us,” Life Studio gun Mardi Aplin said.

“From the beginning of the year we wanted a grand final spot, and that goal hasn’t changed. If we won the minor, it would just be an added bonus.”

Today’s game at Orange PCYC will continue a long rivalry between the two sides - Robin Hood and Life Studio (formerly Westoil) have played each other in the last five grand finals, for five Robin Hood victories.

Predictably, Aplin and Gilchrist said, Saturday’s game is set to be an epic clash.

“Robin Hood are a fantastic side, and it will be a very good game I would think,” Aplin said.

“We always have motivation to beat Robin Hood, and they do with us too, and we always go out thinking we can win.

“It has seemed to be whoever plays better on the day wins these games over the past few years, and I don’t think that will be any different today.”

“Shooting accuracy is important for us,” Gilchrist said.

“Erin Johnstone will be important for us in that regard, as will Tegan Dray through the midcourt.”

Robin Hood and Life Studio clash from 2.30pm.

In Saturday’s other Toyota Cup games Hawks Ace Drilling plays KWS 1sts (2.30pm), Royal Hawks takes on CYMS Gladiators (1.10pm) and LS DVM Embroidery clashes with OHS High A (3.50pm).
