A WOMAN who claimed she drank four glasses of wine in five hours yet recorded a blood-alcohol reading more than three and a half times the legal limit was banned from driving for 20 months.

Elle-Louise Shirley Caton told the tale to police after she was pulled over for a random breath test at 1.25am June 1.
According to police facts she initially told officers she had her last drink one and a half hours previously but later revealed her last drink was only 25 minutes earlier.
The 23-year-old attracted the attention of police because her car was stopped in the middle of the road.
Officers followed her for a short distance until they pulled her car over and asked her why she had stopped in the middle of the street.
“I was waiting to pick up my friend,” she told them.
Her words were slurred and her eyes were glassy.
Once back at the station she was subjected to a breath analysis which recorded a blood-alcohol-reading of 0.189 which was in the high-range category.
She told officers she had been at a friend’s house and had the four glasses of wine between 8pm and 1am.
The former Melville Place resident had already been in trouble with the law for drink-driving and had been given a second chance in court in 2011 when she was given a good behaviour bond, without a conviction recorded, for special range drink-driving, or drink-driving while on a provisional licence with a blood-alcohol reading under 0.05.
Orange Local Court relieving magistrate, Bruce Williams, sentenced her to a 20-month period of disqualification from driving, a good behaviour bond of 12 months and a $1500 fine.
She had only been driving since 2007.
