ORANGE Pistol Club's Dean Brus and Dave Oates dominated the NSW Amateur Pistol Association WA1500 and 25 yard Service Pistol State Championships last weekend, showing exactly why they have represented Australia countless times.

Across the competition's three categories - WA1500 revolver, WA1500 pistol and Service 25 yards - the pair scored five placings between them.
Brus earned championship titles in both the WA1500 pistol High Master category and Service 25 yards Masters division, scoring 1490 (93 Xs) and 638 respectively. He also finished second in the WA1500 revolver with 1482 (95 Xs).
Oates scored second place in the WA1500 pistol with 1486 (97 Xs), and third in the WA1500 revolver after also scoring 1482, but with one less X (94) he was relegated to third behind Brus.
Tamworth's David Pollard scored the WA1500 pistol High Master title with 1488, and 109 Xs.
Of Orange's other revolver competitors Peter Brus finished fifth in the High Master division (1462 with 72 Xs), while Max Wicks came fourth in the Masters division with 1456 and 61 Xs.
Wicks also scored second in the service 25 yards Masters division, shooting well for a total of 635.
Peter Brus tied for second in the service 25 yards A division with Marnie Jones on 619, but was relegated to third after scoring two less Xs (96), and finished sixth in the WA1500 pistol Masters with 1438 (55 Xs).
