LITHGOW Workies put a serious dent in Orange CYMS' Group 10 premier league top-three hopes with a 38-12 upset victory at Tony Luchetti Sportsground on Sunday.

"They started strongly and we couldn't go with them," CYMS' captain-coach Mick Sullivan said.
"Their forwards got on top allowing their halves and hooker a lot of freedom and they had a field day.
"Like them we were a bit short-handed and hopefully we can get a couple of players back. We certainly need a win badly."
CYMS started well and dominated the early exchanges but it was Lithgow who opened the scoring through Keelan Bresac in the 15th minute, with Jamie Clark adding the extras.
A couple of minutes later Workies added to their tally when Steve Lang latched onto a superb ball from Ben Stewart. Clark's conversion attempt missed, leaving the score at 10-nil.
Brent Brogan scored the first of his three tries shortly after before Chris Rhodes and Cory Willmott each scored four pointers in the dying stages of the opening period as Lithgow went into the break leading 28-nil.
Brogan grabbed his second directly after half-time before CYMS finally troubled the scorers in the 50th minute, with fullback Ali Beale crossing. Ben McApline's conversion took the score to 32-6.
McApline crossed shortly after, reducing the deficit to 20 after he converted his own try but when Brogan scored his third any hopes of a green and gold resurgence were put to bed.
Workies halfback Wayde Egan duly converted, making the final score 38-12.
"It was our best performance [of the year]," Workies coach Graeme Osborne said.
"It was a bits and pieces side, but they all came together to work hard and if we play like that in our final matches will be a headache for those looking to make the play-offs.
"Our forwards played tough today and laid the platform for the win."
