IF all Orange residents were as energy efficient as Mary and Michael Christian, we’d save thousands of dollars and make a significant, positive impact on the environment.
That’s the belief of Origin energy expert Anne Armansin, who visited their home on Friday after they won an energy audit as part of a Central Western Daily competition.
Mrs Armansin praised the Christians for their energy efficient ways and was only too happy to give them a few tips and advice.
“I will say they do a fantastic job already,” she said.
“But I’m always happy to help people in their bid to help the environment and save money.”
“The habits that Mary and Michael have already instilled are impressive and should be taken up by others.”
The Christians have been energy-saving for many years and now it’s just a force of habit.
Like many, they do it for the environment, but say saving a few bucks here and there doesn’t hurt.
“We do everything the best we can to try and help the environment,” Mr Christian said.
“Because we’re both pensioners we also do what we can to try and save money,” Mrs Christian added.
During her visit, Mrs Armansin pointed out some great ideas for the Christians, including an energy-efficient electric blanket, as well as upgrades to LED lighting.
