After growing up in Orange, Ms Mill left to pursue a successful art career, showing exhibitions back-to-back for 15 years in galleries across Australia, USA and Italy.
She has now written a book of confessions of a woman living with depression.
The wildly-creative novel takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, and Ms Mill, who suffers from bipolar and anxiety, hopes it will help break down the stigma surrounding mental illness.
“I want people to see you can still lead a very successful life, even if you have a mental illness,” she said. “I want them to see there is beauty in doubt and that you don’t have to try and hide your true self to fit in.”
Ms Mill lives in Newcastle, where she has a home studio and art gallery, but after spending many years exhibiting her works, she says it was time to take a different direction.
“Creativity is all about moving forward, and I felt like it was time that I told my story,” she said. “Everyone likes to have a sneak preview of someone else’s life, and this is mine.”
Ms Mill will be at Highland Heritage Estate from 11am until 3pm on August 14. The event will cost $30, which includes high tea and champagne. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling 6361 3054.
