Storm warning in place

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issues for the Central West this afternoon.

Locations which may be affected by the storms, including heavy winds, include Orange, Mudgee, Bathurst, Walgett, Dubbo and Lightning Ridge.

Thunderstorms are likely over much of eastern New South Wales for the remainder of the afternoon and tonight and some may produce severe wind gusts.

The State Emergency Service is advising people to:

- Move cars away from trees

- Secure or put away loose items around the house

- Clear fallen power lines

- Unplug computers and appliances

- Avoid using the phone during the storm.

A sheep Graziers warning is also in place for parts of the Central Tablelands, with cold temperatures, rain and strong winds expected this evening and tomorrow.
