The Orange and District Scottish Association and Burns Club has been hard at work making preparations for the annual ball, which has been running for 67 years.
The event features traditional Scottish ditties, dancing and food, all centred around one of the most recognisable fabrics in the world, tartan.
Although the famed haggis will not be served on the night, publicity officer Myra Howell said there were plenty of other things to look forward to, including performances from the Canobolas Pipe Band, who wear the Mackenzie tartan, and Scottish dancers.
“Of course, there will be dancing. The Canobolas Pipe Band will play and there will be ballroom dancing,” Mrs Howell said.
“Strip the Willow is a kind of partner dance that we do every year, and I think everyone really enjoys it, they certainly make a mess of the floor and have a lot of fun doing it.”
Mrs Howell expected to sell more than 150 tickets to the ball and said many people came along because they felt a connection to Scotland.
“I think people still come because a lot of people have Scottish heritage, and we have a few young people who come along too,” she said.
The Tartan Ball will be held at the Orange Ex-Service’s Club on September 12, beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $40 per person and can be purchased from the club on 6362 2666.
