Orange Toyota will donate 200 native trees to be sold at the PCYC for $5 each. All funds raised from the trees will be donated to the netball association.
“We’ve (Toyota) been supporting National Tree Day for 11 years and it’s usually run in conjunction with council or local schools,” he said.
“But this year we’ve decided on something different. The [netball association] has over 1000 members and as a club that sometimes does it tough we thought they were a perfect fit for this fundraiser.
“Our staff have their shovels ready to support this great cause and give something back to our community.”
Orange Netball Association’s Jacki Jasprizzi welcomed Orange Toyota’s support and said the club would put the funds towards an end-of-season celebration.
“We’ve got a great partnership with Orange Toyota and we’re very fortunate to get this type of funding,” she said.
“We plan on rejuvenating a presentation evening we used to run 15-20 years ago.
“t’s a great way to applaud our highest achievers in Orange netball.”
The presentation evening will be held on August 23.
National Tree Day is run by Planet Ark and spokesperson Debbie Agnew says nearly 200,000 people take part each year at approximately 3000 planting sites statewide.
