After losing competition points at the start of the season for playing an unregistered player, Kinross-CYMS’ season has gone downhill since.
Plagued by inconsistency, the Orange side went through the opening 12 rounds winning just three games, then lost skipper Madie Smith to mid-season calf surgery.
Finally, already out of play-offs contention, Kinross-CYMS was forced to forfeit last weekend’s clash with Lithgow Zig Zag after a mix up with the draw.
“It is getting tough to get up for these games,” Kinross-CYMS’ inner Mel Woods said.
“But the girls know everything that has happened hasn’t been their fault. We have had no control over that sort of thing, and the girls are keeping their heads up because of that.
“We aren’t a bad side, we just haven’t been able to put it together consistently yet.”
Despite being unavailable for today’s women’s Premier League Hockey clash with sixth-placed Bathurst St Pat’s, Woods said Kinross-CYMS will field close to a full strength side.
“Missing me isn’t missing much,” she laughed.
“We knew going into this season that we were going to be faced with an inconsistent line-up, but today we should have almost a full side.
“We’ve been working on staying positive in everything we do from here on in and I think this is a good opportunity for us.
“St Pat’s are a young side as well, in fact I think they’re quite similar to us in a way. Obviously they are still a good side, but we might be able to grab a win.”
Kinross-CYMS’ clash with St Pat’s kicks off at 1.50pm at Cooke Hockey Complex.
Confederates also travel to Bathurst and will look to bounce back from last week’s 5-nil loss to Parkes United against Bathurst City.
’Feds game starts at 12.20pm.
