The gates to the mountain have been closed by Cabonne Council staff until further notice.
On Thursday the expected snowfalls predicted mid morning did not arrive, however some residents on the western side of Orange in the Cargo Road and Mount Canobolas area reported falls of snow around 8am and again late in the afternoon.
Saturday’s outlook is for a minimum of one degree rising to a top of seven at noon, with the temperature taking a downward turn with 6 degrees expected at 3pm.
Intermittent rain is also expected in Orange about mid-afternoon on Saturday.
So if you have to stand on the sidelines tomorrow to cheer on your favourite sporting team you will have to rug up.
Police and Cabonne Council staff are warning drivers not to attempt to force their way through the gates which are closing off the mountain.
On Sunday Orange residents will experience the coldest temperature for the year with minus three predicted to start the day, rising to a weekend high of eight degrees.
