PARTS of the Lake Canobolas bike track could be open to the public by the end of winter, with work progressing well.
Central West Off Road Bicycle Club treasurer Grant Dowell said the first two sections of the cross country track had been constructed, but more work was needed to smooth them out before they were available to the public.
“There’s about three kilometres that are quite good, but there’s a couple of spots we need to bed down to make them smoother before we can say they’re complete,” he said.
“It will probably be easier once it warms up.”
The entire loop will measure eight to nine kilometres once complete, with riders able to test themselves on the full length, or the three separate loops.
Mr Dowell said the club hoped to start a 100-metre-long skills area soon.
“It could include things like balancing logs, which are slightly raised off the ground to work on balance, and maybe some rough, steep, short rocks to climb up and down on, with safe areas around them,” he said.
Volunteers from the club have been spending their Saturdays building the track.
