It has been a week and a half since the Orange resident found out his entry was a winner, and on Thursday he was able to drive the bright red i20 out of the Tony Leahey showroom with his children Jayden and Sarah Baker in the back seat.
Mr Felstead has not planned any special trips for his family in their new car but says none of his friends believed him when he told them of his win.
“I even showed them a picture of the entry form,” he said.
“Very few people have ever heard of anyone winning anything like this. I really wasn’t expecting it.”
The competition received more than 6500 entries for the car, valuted at almost $21,775, and was held in conjunction with Tony Leahey Hyundai and Charter Hall, the company that manages Orange Central.
Charter Hall administration manager Celia van der Zwaag presented the car to Mr Felstead on behalf of Orange Central, Charter Hall and Tony Leahey Hyundai, and said the competition was a way to say thank you to customers for putting up with the redevelopment of Coles supermarket.
“We wanted to have a local promotion, and it’s great to see someone from the community win it,” Mrs van der Zwaag said.
