ORANGE’S Jason Belmonte is once again in the running to win the ESPY for best bowler.

The ESPYs are American cable channel, ESPN’s annual sports awards - the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards.

It is the fourth year in a row Belmonte has been nominated for the best bowler ESPY after winning in 2011 as a first-time nominee.

Voting is already open, with fans able to show their support for Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) bowlers Belmonte, Sean Rash, Wes Malott and Pete Weber.

Belmonte probably has the most impressive list of credentials for this year’s award, but Weber could challenge.

Belmonte won four PBA major championships over the past two seasons, posted the tour’s highest scoring average with a 228.81 in 2013 and won the 2013 Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year award.

Weber, who won the ESPY in 2002, 2004 and 2013, won the Barbasol PBA Tournament of Champions to become the first bowler to complete the PBA Triple Crown for a second time.

Weber also won the 2013 USBC Senior Master title and was the runner-up for Player of the Year honours.

Rash, who won the 2012 ESPY, led the PBA Tour in 2013 earnings, finishing the season with $US248,317, and was third on tour in points.

Malott, won the 2013 US Open, his first major title.

He also finished the 2013 season with the second highest scoring average (228.09) and was second in competition points.

The ESPYs bring together some of the world’s top athletes across a range of sports.

Other Australians in the running for an ESPY are Adam Scott (best male golfer) and Tim Cahill (best MLS player).

Voting ends at 2pm on Thursday, July 17 (AEST), and the winner will be announced at the presentation at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on the same day.
