Mrs Bollinger said she and Lucy Needham had spearheaded a campaign to have fluoride added to the Molong water supply since 2010, and they were thrilled the NSW government had finally agreed
“I think it’s pretty good news,” Mrs Bollinger said.
“It’s not only good news for the future health of the children of Molong, but it also means better health for the older folk of Molong.”
Mrs Bollinger said she was mystified as to why it had taken so long for a decision to be made.
“A survey was conducted more than two years ago and it came out in favour of it. I think a stroke of a pen back then could have made it all happen,” she said.
Cabonne mayor Ian Gosper said council staff would start talks immediately with representatives from NSW Health and the Office of Water about the implementation process.
“We will ask both agencies to assist council in a hazard and operation study to finalise the design of the chemical dosing system and how it will be incorporated into the Molong water supply scheme,” he said.
Molong’s water supply should have fluoride added to it by June 30 next year.
Cr Gosper said the government’s decision to fluoridate the Molong water supply followed a three-year process by Cabonne Council and the Department of Health.
