Her parents, Gary and Zelma Bone, who live in Orange, are sharing their daughter's joy.
"We were very excited for her," Gary said.
"It's something that's been a major aim for her in terms of hockey."
Gary said they hoped Eddie would be going to Glasgow after she helped the Hockeyroos to silver at this month's World Cup.
"After the World Cup, there was a bit of a sense they'd played very well and they'd keep that group together and she'd be a part of it," he said.
Gary and Zelma were able to go to the second week of the World Cup in the Netherlands earlier this month and admitted to nerves ahead of the final.
"That was scary. Both Zel and I were very nervous before the game," he said.
"We were lucky enough to get to the World Cup, which, except for the Olympics, is probably the pinnacle of hockey. It was really something quite special."
Gary, a teacher at Kinross Wolaroi School, said he won't be able to go to Glasgow, but it is hoped his wife will make the trip.
"Zel is hopeful of getting there," Gary said.
"That will be something special for her. I'll be spending a few late nights to watch it on TV."
Eddie's twin sister, Meredith, may also travel over, as well as Eddie's boyfriend, Josh Shea.
"It would be amazing and awesome. Having them there would be the best support," Eddie said.
The Commonwealth Games start on July 23.
