In what was expected to be a tight match on Saturday, High A and Royal Hawks played out a 31-all draw.

High A coach Tegan Dray said the game was as tight as the score suggests.

“It was very close,” Dray said.

“We were a bit mentally and physically tired from Astley Cup, so we knew it would be a tough game. Plus we had Chloe (Riley) out injured, so that meant there was a bit of a shake up of the team.

“Hawks have also got a few injuries too. So both teams were out there to do their best.”

Dray said the game was hard-fought across the court.

“It was really equal possession,” she explained.

“Both teams made mistakes, like taking the wrong options, but they also made the most of their opportunities. A draw was probably a fair result.”

In the round’s other matches, Robin Hood maintained their unbeaten run this season, downing LS DVM Embroidery 71-30, CYMS Gladiators scored a 46-33 victory over Hawks Ace Drilling and Life Studio accounted for Kinross 1sts.

The competition has now reached the halfway mark, with teams starting to think about their chances of finishing in the top four and playing in the semi-finals.

Robin Hood’s unbeaten run in the first seven rounds means they lead the division one field on 21 points.

Right behind them, having only lost one match to Robin Hood, are competition heavyweights Life Studio on 19 points.

Royal Hawks and High A are both on 16 points, however Hawks earn third place on percentages.

CYMS Gladiators are still a chance of moving into the top four and semi-final contention as they are just three points outside the top four on 13.

Kinross 1sts (11), LS DVM Embroidery (9) and Hawks Ace Drilling (7) have some work to do to climb into the top four.

The ONA season will resume on Saturday, July 19.
