A REQUEST from the owner of an Aboriginal employment agency for funding from Orange City Council to put more indigenous people in work is one of several applications now on public exhibition.

Dittinjarda Consultants has requested $40,000 from council to help buy a block of land to build a home and sell it on the market.
The house would be built by indigenous youth undergoing training at TAFE, keeping them employed for the duration of their training.
The proceeds from the sale would buy the next block and the program is expected to generate 20 short-term and 10 long-term jobs.
A report to council staff earlier this month identified Clem McFawl Place as a possible location - the block would cost $140,000.
Council spokesman Allan Reeder said the proposal had been put out for public comment because it was outside council’s usual grants program.
Other proposed donations include $2010 for the Western Region Academy of Sport to support its athletes and $5000 for the Appledale Processors Co-operative, in support of the annual Apple Festival.
“Under local government regulations, when a local council wants to make a donation to an organisation which doesn’t identify itself as a not-for-profit body, the proposal has to be put on public exhibition for 28 days to allow the community to comment,” Mr Reeder said.
Submissions close on Friday, July 4.
