A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been found safe and well after spending Saturday night in Glenwood State Forest.
SES volunteers found Robert French with his vehicle at about 8.05am on Sunday after the Mitsubishi utility became bogged on one of the forest's laneways.
Lake Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Peter Atkins said Mr French was cold and hungry, but otherwise unharmed and he praised the man for how he handled the situation.
"Once he became bogged, he stayed with his vehicle, he monitored the UHF channel during the night, he took warm clothes and he told people where he was going - they were all good points," he said.
Ambulance officers checked Mr French at the scene and the vehicle remains in the forest to be recovered at later stage.
Police started a land search at the forest on Saturday night after Mr French set off from his Orange home at 11.15am and did not return.
The main tracks were checked, but the search had to be called off at about 11.30pm due to heavy fog.
The search recommenced on Sunday morning, with police, the SES and members of the community involved and Mr French was found on one of the side tracks.
Police thanked the SES and community for their help during the search.

A SEARCH will resume at first light for a man missing in a state forest near Orange.
Robert French, 24, left his home in Orange about 11.15am on Saturday, to go to Glenwood State Forest.
Police were alerted when he failed to return home last night.
Officers from Canobolas Local Area Command last night established a command post at the forest and commenced a land search.
Robert was not carrying a mobile phone and concerns are held for his welfare due to conditions overnight, which were cold, wet and foggy.
He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, 175cm tall and with a thin build. He was wearing a red flannelette jumper and jeans.
He was driving a Mitsubishi utility with Queensland registration 849 TLE. Police have not located the utility.
The search was suspended due to poor conditions just after 11.30pm.
This morning’s search will involve local police and SES volunteers.
Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 .
