KINROSS 1sts coach Janet Martin said CYMS Gladiators won’t present any less of a challenge in Saturday’s Orange Toyota Cup clash despite the green and golds’ recent coaching upheaval.

Kylie Jordan has taken the reins at CYMS, replacing Teigan Colley, but Martin said the situation won’t change Kinross’ mindset or CYMS’ ability.

“I don’t know anything about it, but it won’t change the way they play,” she said.

“Besides, we don’t focus on our opposition, we just concentrate on ourselves.”

Cliches aside, Martin said Saturday’s clash with the green and golds is a chance for her team to continue its push for a top four spot.

Kinross currently sits fifth, two points in front of CYMS, four points adrift of High A in fourth.

“With High A just in front of us, today is a definitely a chance to stay in touch,” she said.

“They play Robin Hood today, so if we win and they lose we’re right back with them. We play them in two rounds, so today should also be good preparation for that game.”

Martin lauded her troops’ form, particularly their gritty 41-40 win over Hawks Ace Drilling two weeks ago.

“There really isn’t much we need to work on,” she said.

“The girls are playing really good netball.”

Martin said Saturday’s clash, featuring two of the competition’s youngest sides, is sure to be played at a frantic pace.

“They’re young and very fast,” Martin said.

“We’re young too, so the girls need to stay switched on and not get too hyped up with the speed of the game.”

KWS 1sts and CYMS Gladiators will clash at 2.30pm today.

In Saturday’s other division one games, Life Studio DVM Embroidery takes on Hawks Ace Drilling  at 1.10pm, Robin Hood clashes with High A at 2.30pm and Life Studio plays Royal Hawks at 3.50pm.
