UNION officials say they expect wage negotiations with Electrolux management to be resolved next week allowing the factory workers to get on with the rest of their lives.

Australian Workers Union (AWU) western region organiser Alan Haynes says while last week workers voted not to accept Electrolux’s offer of an 11 per cent pay rise over three years, he expected both sides to offer retention bonus concessions when negotiations resume next Wednesday.
“I think they’re [the workers] still disappointed with the outcome, in light of the fact that the place is closing workers wanted the majority of the increase to happen in the next two years,” he said.
However Mr Haynes said it was about time wage negotiations between the union and management were resolved.
“While it’s good to get what you’re after you have to reach a point where you’ve done all that can be done and it’s time to get on with the rest of your life.”
Mr Haynes said workers at other Electrolux operations in Australia, including the distribution and service centres, were offered a 12 per cent pay rise over three years and he would have liked Orange workers to have received the same.
