RUB shoulders with celebrities and film characters and be snapped by paparazzi at Kinross Wolaroi School’s performing arts festival A Night at the Movies next Thursday.
The inaugural festival will showcase the school’s music, drama and dance ensembles in a celebration of memorable music, dance and drama moments from the film industry.
On the program is a range of popular cinematic music, including the Star Wars suite, Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid, Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter, and three drama performances with scenes from Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Ace Ventura and a Joker and Batman skit.
Year 12 drama students will also be greeting the audience at the door dressed as famous characters, handing out bags of popcorn and chop top ice creams, and head of performing arts at the school Anneliese Alloway said the students had been preparing for the festival since term one.
“We’ve been hard at work trying to expand the performing arts faculty from just music to drama and dance as well,” Ms Alloway said.
“We want to expose the students as much as possible to all kinds of performing arts.”
“The students are excited and intrigued by what they’re doing. I think we’re going to see some really talented and polished performances.”
The show is free of charge at the school’s Derek Pigot Auditorium and doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start on June 19.
