In it’s 31st year the event will now be known as the Orange Antique, Jewellery and Vintage Fair.

Orange’ Zonta Club president Frances Young said the members had decided to change the name of the event in response to a request from dealers.

The all-female club has sponsored the fair for more than three decades, as its major fundraising event of the year with proceeds to benefit women and children.

“The dealers were telling us that by putting jewellery and vintage into our name we would be able to attract a more diverse crowd and it would more appropriately reflect the wares the dealers were selling,” Ms Young said.

This year 28 dealers will come to Orange to set up on Friday in readiness for the traditional preview on Friday evening, followed by the fair operating on Saturday and Sunday.

Ms Young said around 60 students from Canobolas Rural Technology High School are offering their services on Friday night as part of their hospitality studies at the school.

“They are preparing the menus, doing the shopping and will be at the function centre all day to prepare the food for the preview,” she said.

“The students have done a wonderful job in the past and we are delighted to have them helping out,” she said.

At the weekend the ladies of Orange Quota Club will offer morning and afternoon teas at the fair.

Tickets for Friday evening’s preview are available on the door for a 6.30pm start or prior to that at Boomers bookshop, Second Chance Collectables or Frances Young Physiotherapy in March Street.

The fair runs from 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

All proceeds from this year’s fair will go to Family Support Services, Brent Sanders who provides support programs to teenagers in schools, the Country Education Foundation education partner scholarship 2014, birthing kits for third world countries and breast cushions for women who have undergone breast cancer surgery.
