His winning ticket was drawn from hundreds of entries.
Mr Godwin said he was so excited, he could not get back to sleep after being notified of his win on the night by Orange Daybreak Rotary member Peter Roan.
“I just couldn’t believe it. Ever since a was a young kid I have just wanted to own a Harley-Davidson. This is unbelievable,” he said.
“I don’t think I slept for two nights after I got the news.”
Many people tried to increase their chance of winning the big prize by buying multiple tickets, but Mr Godwin purchased just one ticket.
“I don’t buy tickets as a rule, but because the prize was a Harley I bought one,” he said.
Orange Daybreak Rotary Ball chairman Stuart Smith said the club members were thrilled Mr Godwin won the prize.
“To see it go to someone who just really wanted to win that prize is absolutely wonderful,” he said.
“And he’s also got a motorbike licence so he can drive it out of the showroom.”
Orange and District Early Education Program (ODEEP) director Robyn Brice said the funds raised at the ball provided vital support for families in Orange and district.
“To think they have raised almost $80,000 is unbelievable. That is a speech therapist position for us,” she said.
The ball was a joint fundraiser of the National Australia Bank (NAB) and the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak.
