Moses appeared in court on Thursday with a large group of supporters after the court was notified the person who had put up $1000 surety for Moses to remain on bail, wanted their money back and applied to the court to be discharged from the surety.
Solicitor Philip Boncardo who represented Moses on behalf of his colleague solicitor Mason Manwaring in his absence, told magistrate Terry Lucas he opposed the application.
Mr Boncardo told the court a female friend of Moses who had gone guarantor for his client had a falling out with Moses since the accused’s last court appearance.
He told Mr Lucas he didn’t believe that was sufficient grounds to grand the application to withdraw from a surety arrangement with the courts.
Mr Lucas adjourned the case until later in the day to consider the case and hand down a ruling.
Mr Boncardo told the court when the matter was rescheduled he had spoken with his client and undertaken some investigating on his client’s behalf during the adjournment.
“I have had some discussions with Mr Moses.”
“I have managed to track down someone who is able to pay the surety,” he said.
However Mr Boncardo told the court the details needed to be finalised with Moses’s new guarantor.
Mr Lucas granted Mr Boncardo an extension of time until Monday for his client to come up with the $1000 required.
Moses has been allowed to remain on bail.
