ALL lanes of the Mitchell Highway were opened about 1pm on Friday.

All diversions were lifted and there were no delays for motorists in the area.

11AM, FRIDAY:

THE Mitchell Highway is closed in both directions in Wongarbon due to a serious accident involving two trucks at Beni Street on Friday morning. 

Motorists are being diverted at Dubbo via the Golden Highway, then onto Cobbora Road before rejoining the Mitchell Highway.

This diversion is suitable for all vehicles.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow at least an additional 60 minutes travel time.

Emergency services are on site working to free a trapped occupant with a rescue helicopter called in to assist in taking the patient to hospital. 

It is understood two semi-trailers, both travelling westbound have collided. 

Emergency services are on the scene. 

There is no forecast as to when the road will reopen.
