By the time officers arrived at the address the man had gone but a short time later the man showed up at the station with a black bag full of sporting equipment in a bid to prove he did not have a gun.
What he did not do was remove the shotgun ammunition he had in his car parked behind the station.
Dane Gordon Bunworth was fined $800 for possession of ammunition without a licence in Orange Local Court last week, but was also fined $800 for possession of drugs.
Police searched the 34-year-old’s car because of his “lengthy criminal history relating to violence” and found ammunition for a 12 gauge shotgun.
The Ploughmans Lane resident did not show up for his court appearance and was fined regardless.
The second charge was slapped on him after police pulled his car over for a random breath test in April and he “immediately started shaking”.
Police searched the car due to intelligence reports and found what Bunworth said was a “point of ice” or crystalline methylamphetamine.
