Teenager charged with assault

A 15-year-old male has been charged over the attempted sexual assault of a woman in Orange earlier this week.

On Sunday, a 20-year-old woman was at home with her eight-month-old baby girl about 3.30pm when a young man walked into her Summer Street home. 

Police believe the youth attempted to sexually assault the woman before punching her and pushing her through an open window.

He took cash then ran out the front door; he was last seen riding a bike east along Summer Street towards Coronation Parade.

The woman contacted police and was taken by NSW Paramedics to Orange Base Hospital where she was treated for bruising and shock.

The child wasn’t touched during the attack.

The teenager was arrested at a home in Orange about 8.30am this morning.

He was taken to Orange Police Station and later charged with inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual assault, assault with act of indecency, aggravated enter dwelling with intent, steal property in dwelling house and larceny.

The youth was refused bail to appear at Orange Children’s Court.
