Forbes-born Pavey performed songs from her soon-to-be-released EP and said it was good to be home.
“I feel so much more refreshed than in the city because it’s not where I grew up,” she said.
While preparing the EP, the 20-year-old has been performing in Sydney, Brisbane and Hamilton Island and has met with her former coach from The Voice, Delta Goodrem, on a couple of occasions.
Sandvik’s high performance centre manager, Steven MacGregor, said more than 200 people had attended the open day, including families of staff and workers from Cadia Valley mine.
“There’s been a lot of kids,” he said.
“Our aim was to get recognised in the community and show them we are here and we’ve achieved that for sure.”
Despite machinery on display, jumping castles, face painting, popcorn and fairy floss, Mr MacGregor said the youngsters’ favourite attraction was the simulator, which allowed them to experience driving a loader into a mine.
