A KANGAROO in Cook Park was sedated on Wednesday afternoon by a WIRES-contracted animal expert and removed to be released back into the bush.
Orange Police and WIRES were called to the park after members of the public became concerned about the welfare of the kangaroo, which had reportedly been in the park for a couple of days.
Orange Police Inspector Dave Harvey said police officers were called in to provide support.
“We wanted the public to be aware police had been notified and were there in case there were any issues of protection,” he said.
“Also we wanted to allay any fears of people who were in the park and saw the gun which was being used to sedate the animal.”
