Returning president Bruce Buchanan said new faces had been elected to the committee at the company’s annual general meeting in March, including Scott Halls as vice-president, Katrina Kittler as secretary and Sam Fuda as treasurer.
He said about six of the 14-strong committee chose not to stand for re-election at the AGM, including past president Trevor Carroll, in order to take a break.
“Eight existing board members were re-elected and there were a couple of new people,” he said.
Orange Theatre Company will present two productions this year, Chicago from May 9 to 18 and Seussical The Musical from October 17 to 25.
“The thing I love about it is that everybody comes together for the joy of putting together a show and we have an amazing group of dedicated people,” he said.
However, the year will not be without its challenges.
Mr Buchanan said governance would be a priority, with a new code of conduct to ensure the organisation was transparent.
He also said the company’s costume and set hire premises in March Street might become unavailable in coming years and it would have to search for another location.
“We know the council has future plans to upgrade that area. It might not eventuate for another three years, but we need to look at our own future plans,” he said.
