THE circus is coming to town!
The big top for the Orange Show’s circus act will rise next week, with the Brophy Bros Circus returning to Orange after a 30-year hiatus.
“We have just finished at the Hoopla festival in Sydney and had the opportunity to come to Orange early to set up,” Warren Brophy said.
He is already training his six-year-old son Matthew who will entertain the crowd with his plate-spinning routine.
“I’m very proud of him. He’s the seventh generation of our family who have been involved in circus acts, right back to Perry’s Circus,” Mr Brophy said.
Mr Brophy’s two older sons are also part of the family circus, which has been brought to this year’s show by the Orange Show Society.
With free entry to the circus, Mr Brophy says there will be plenty to keep children entertained.
“We have the shetland ponies and a great variety of tricks,” he said.
A special feature will be the Wheel of Steel featuring acrobatic acts in a wheel suspended above the ground. The fireworks will light up the night sky on Saturday at 7.30pm.
Show gates will be open from 9am to 9pm on Saturday, May 10, and 9am to 4.30pm on Sunday, May 11.
Entry to the show costs $15 for adults, $8 for children under 12 and $8 for pensioners, while a family ticket costs $40.
