THE Orange Junior Warriors proved to be up to the challenge of this year’s Australian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships.

Most of the bowlers stepped up a grade from the previous year but they still won the same number of medals as they did in 2013.
However, the best part was they won more gold this year than in 2013.
The young Warriors brought home nine gold, four silver and five bronze medals.
On top of that, Nick Flannery was part of the NSW team which won silver in the President’s Shield, an inter-state competition.
“Each year they’ve improved,” Orange Junior Warriors coach Jason Brown said of his young team.
“This year, I thought, would be harder because they’re stepping up to higher grades, but they still performed well. They equalled the same amount of medals they won last year, but this time they won more gold and less bronze.”
In the boys’ events, Bayley Swallow took out the D grade singles which helped him to finish third in the all events.
Sam Flannery was third and first, because you can have multiple entries, in the B grade singles, and third in the all events.
Hayden Swallow took out the A grade singles crown and was fifth in the all events.
The boys also worked well together in combination.
Sam Flannery and Harry Betts were second and equal third in the B grade doubles, while Sam Johnston and Bayley Swallow were second in the C grade doubles.
In the five-man team event, Nick Flannery, Dylan McNabb, Josh Harman, Harry Betts and Jarrod Swallow won gold.
The girls weren’t outdone by the boys.
Torz Downey was equal first in the C grade girls’ singles title and won the all events gold.
Katie Holmes claimed the silver in the C grade all events, while Chiara French was second in the B grade singles.
In the C grade doubles, Downey and Holmes combined to win gold.
The boys and girls also combined for more medals.
Nick Flannery and Tegan Ihnativ (who isn’t from Orange) finished third in the open mixed doubles.
In the mixed teams, Jessica Robinson, Torz Downey, Sam Flannery, Sam Johnston and Hayden Swallow took out the B grade title, while Brandon McNabb, Micaylah Downey, Lana Duncan-James, Katie Holmes and Bayley Swallow won gold in the C grade event.
