The Warriors are preparing to embark on a run of four consecutive away games, and the round five win will give the side a boost.

Playing at the Orange Tenpin Bowl, the home side accounted for Gosford 70-44.

Orange captain Jason Brown, who didn’t bowl this round, was thrilled to see his team get up after losing their opening four rounds.

“They bowled well. It was a good effort,” Brown said.

“It was good to finally get a win on the board. They were pretty stoked, pretty happy, especially some of them who have bowled the early rounds this year. It was great for them to win.”

Gosford came out on top in the singles 23-15, but Orange dominated the doubles 29-9 to have a 44-32 overall lead.

Orange also claimed the teams section 22-12 before claiming the four bonus points for have the highest overall pinfall.

Ross Southwell led the charge for the Warriors with his 210 average for 11 games. 

Jason Osborne made a welcome return to the side with a 209 average for 11 games, while Jacob French averaged 206 for his eight games. 

Chick Elliott (205) and Trenton Barnier (205) were the only Gosford players to average over 200 for the day.

“Ross Southwell, he had the best round he’s bowled,” Brown said. “To have a key player like Ozzie [Osborne] back in the side was great. A match would come down to the last two frames and he can pull out the strikes when he needs to, whereas the younger bowlers can find it tough.”

The only downside for Orange is they will sit out the competition’s sixth round with a bye.

“We’re on a roll, we don’t want to stop now,” Brown laughed.

The Warriors will be back on the lanes for the seventh round on June 1 when they travel to Newcastle.

This will be followed by away games against Bateau Bay, Shellharbour and Campbelltown.

Orange will be back on home lanes for round 11 when they host Lidcombe on August 31.
