Aaron Raymond O’Brien of Campbell Street, Luddenham, was also fined $1000.
At 7.30am on August 30, police received a driving complaint about a truck on the Mitchell Highway swerving across double lines.
The truck then pulled up at Chinamans Bend and O’Brien placed a towel over the driver’s side window, police facts said.
Police believed he was using amphetamines and did not want anyone to see what he was doing.
Police caught up with the 27-year-old truck driver and followed him to Lucknow where officers pulled him over.
O’Brien stepped out of the truck wearing track pants, a dirty shirt and a pair of thongs.
His eyes were puffy and his pupils were dilated, his hands were shaking and his speech was slurred.
Police asked him why he was so nervous.
“I just am,” he replied.
He told police there were two bags in the truck that had contained drugs, but he had consumed the speed that was in the bags two weeks earlier and did not use any when he was pulled up at Chinamens Bend.
Police asked him to walk in a straight line, heel to toe, which he could not do.
He was arrested and his blood sample came back with 0.07 milligrams per litre of methylamphetamine and 0.02 milligram per litre of amphetamine.
