“I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mike on his successful selection as the Premier of NSW,” Mr Gee said.
The deputy leader of the Liberal Party will be current transport minister Gladys Berejiklian.
“I have a very good working relationship with both Mike and Gladys and I look forward to continuing that to achieve outcomes for the Orange electorate.”
Barry O’Farrell unexpectedly resigned yesterday after it was revealed he had written and signed a thank-you note for a bottle of 1959 Penfolds Grange wine, which he had emphatically denied receiving the day before.
The wine was valued at $3000 and was given to the premier by Nick Di Girolamo, curently at the centre of ICAC corruption investigations.
“Sudden though this change has been it’s a good opportunity to take stock and have a good look at where we as a government want to head over the next 12 months,” said Mr Gee.
Mike Baird is the member for Manly, on Sydney’s northern beaches. He has been serving as the Treasurer under Mr O’Farrell.
