PARKING difficulties in Orange will again come under the microscope on Tuesday night, with a business asking councillors to introduce parking restrictions following a fall in trade.

The Mills Cafe has asked for council to introduce timed parking and monitor usage on the western side of its Byng Street car park because its customers struggled to find parking.
Cafe partner Nick Mavros said the congestion started two years ago after a fitness operator opened next door, with gym users parking for at least an hour.
“I’d say we’re down 20 per cent at least,” he said.
“It’s definitely killed our night trade.”
Currently, eight untimed spaces are marked out for cafe patrons.
“But because it’s not monitored, people don’t care and nothing can be done about it,” he said.
“We get a lot of people using the disabled as well, which is not right.”
Parking outside the business in Byng Street itself is limited to one hour.
Mr Mavros said he hoped 12-15 spaces would be limited to half an hour as part of an arrangement with council.
Councillors will consider a motion tonight to enter an agreement with the business, similar to its arrangements with Orange City Centre and Kmart.
The business will be responsible for the cost of patrols, signage and line-marking.
A report into parking changes is expected in the coming months, including opportunities for new car parks and a review of time limits.
