The ball will take place at the Orange Ex-Services’ Club on June 14, and money raised will go towards supporting the school’s automotive program.
Teacher at the school and organiser of the event Elke McGrath said 30 students are currently part of the program, which teaches students automotive skills by restoring old engines and trucks.
“The kids really love the program, they really get into it,” Ms McGrath said.
“It’s not only the boys, the girls get into the sanding and the painting of the trucks too.”
The school staff are hoping to purchase new trucks, tools and materials with the proceeds from the fundraiser.
“We wanted to do something that was special in its own way,” Ms McGrath said.
While there are around 20 businesses already on board, including Banksia Building, Master Builders’ Association and White Stock Transport, Ms McGrath is hoping many more will sign up as sponsors.
“When a company becomes a supporter, the students will go down to the business and create a photo ad to be displayed on a slide show on the night,” she said. “We’re also looking for donations for the raffle.”
Four hundred guests are expected to attend the ball, with tables of 10 for sale.
Each ticket will be $80 per person, and will include a two-course meal and entertainment by Pat and Kellie O’Donnell and band.
To purchase tickets, or if you want to become a sponsor, you can visit the Anson Street School office, or call Elke McGrath on 6362 4563.
