OCTEC Limited will take part in activities during the next three years to support the Australian Human Rights Commission’s program Racism. It stops with me.
OCTEC chief executive Andrew McDougall said racism, particularly between indigenous and white Australians, remained an issue when people had preconceived views of others.
“It’s not everywhere, but where it exists, we all should be standing up and saying it’s not on,” he said.
“It’s about engaging people in a humanistic sense, we shouldn’t judge them on the colour of their skin, we should get to know them.”
Mr McDougall said OCTEC would display the campaign’s logo and posters, and continue its indigenous employment strategy and cultural awareness training.
