A STALEMATE over pay rises for 551 Electrolux workers has continued following a meeting between unions and the company on Thursday.

Representatives from the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU), Australian Workers Union, Electrical Trade Union and the National Union of Workers were in attendance at the meeting to discuss the three-year enterprise bargaining agreement, which took several hours.
AMWU NSW secretary Tim Ayres said there had been “absolutely no movement from the company”.
“Efforts will be made by the unions to make sure they understand their obligations to the community and the workforce,” he said.
Mr Ayres said the unions would give the company until next week to come back with another offer.
“They need to give workers a sensible income, some security and ensure they do everything they can to put them in the best position possible,” he said.
The unions originally put forward a 12 per cent pay increase across the next three years, with 5 per cent in each of the first two years and 2 per cent in the third.
Only the first two years of the EBA will apply due to the refrigeration plant’s closure in 2016.
However, the company put forward a 10.5 per cent increase, with 3.5 per cent increases each year.
The rate of pay at the end of the first two years will affect the worker’s redundancy payouts.
