The 19-year-old’s solicitor Philip Boncardo told Orange Local Court Jones had spent the day at the racetrack before going to the pub.
About 12.30am she caught a taxi home, however, at 3am she realised she had left her phone inside the pub.
“She made the unintelligent decision to drive back to the pub to pick up the phone,” Mr Boncardo said.
Jones came to police attention because she was driving without headlights on.
Mr Boncardo told Magistrate Terry Lucas that Jones had completed a driver education course and had never appeared in court until last week.
“[The driving course] had put things into perspective for her ... she pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity,” Mr Boncardo.
Police facts said Jones told officers she had started drinking at 11.30am on Saturday, January 18, and had finished drinking at 12.30am on Sunday, January 19, and had consumed about six pre-mixed drinks.
Her blood alcohol level was 0.122.
Magistrate Terry Lucas fined Jones $1200 and disqualified her from driving for six months.
