EIGHT Bletchington Public School students had the opportunity to participate in creating a new Anzac garden at the entrance of their school on Wednesday morning.

The captains, vice-captains and prefects of Bletchington planted, mulched and watered the new rosemary bushes with the help of the Bunnings activity group.
The project was co-ordinated between the school’s garden committee, members from Orange RSL sub-branch, and Bunnings, ahead of April 25.
Chair of the garden committee Linda Bennett said after the children had finished the garden, an Anzac service would we held at the school.
“They were happy to roll up their sleeves and put on their gloves to support Anzac Day,” Ms Bennett said.”
“It’s going to help spruce up the school.”
President of Orange RSL Lindsay Wright, a Vietnam War veteran who watched on as the students went to work, was very happy to see them so enthusiastic about taking part in the planting.
“It’s great to see the children involved, coming up to Anzac Day,” Mr Wright said.
“We expect up to 1000 children to march on the day.”
“Over the past few years, the numbers of schools getting involved in Anzac Day have increased, and we really think that’s great,” he said.
Each year Bunnings takes on community projects ahead Anzac Day and has also donated 2000 Australian hand flags to the Orange RSL, which will be distributed on April 25.
