Farm tragedy: Man electrocuted by power lines while on tractor - Photos

POLICE and forensic officers are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man who is believed to have been electrocuted during a farming accident near Cudal yesterday morning.

Initial investigations suggest the man was driving a tractor at his family’s The Escort Way property about 10am when a boom spray he was transporting came into contact with overhead power lines.

Essential Energy teams worked to isolate the electricity supply at the site before emergency services removed the man from his vehicle.

Three ambulance crews arrived at the property from Orange and Molong, and paramedics treated the man for a cardiac arrest.

A medical helicopter arrived to transport him to hospital, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Forensic officers examined the scene yesterday and a WorkCover NSW spokesperson confirmed inspectors from the organisation’s Orange branch had also visited the scene yesterday.

Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Peter Atkins said police would prepare a report for the coroner.

Inspector Atkins said initial investigations suggested the man’s death was the result of a tragic accident.

Members of the man’s family were believed to have been at the property at the time of the incident.
