The season starts in a month and ONA president Jacki Jasprizza said everything is on track.

“We’ll have 63 senior teams this year. I think that’s four more than last year,” Jasprizza explained.

“We’re still finalising some of the grades. We’ll have eight teams in division one. We’re trying to keep a similar number in all the other grades.”

This season all eight teams in the top grade will play for the Orange Toyota Cup.

Six-time defending champions Robin Hood are back and will be keen to get their hands on the division one trophy.

Their rivalry with regular grand finalists Life Studio is set to continue after Robin Hood won the 2013 decider 46-44.

Life Studio will enter two teams in the Orange Toyota Cup, as will Hawks.

High A, Kinross and CYMS will also field one team each.

“It’s the same culprits,” Jasprizza laughed.

Last year, the ONA trialled a squad system for the top two divisions, allowing players to move between the two grades.

Clubs had teams aligned in the two grades, which allowed players to be promoted and relegated.

Jasprizza said the squad system would remain in 2014.

“We used it as a trial last year,” Jasprizza said.

“Some clubs did it better than others. Amanda Rouse [now Hurford] did it brilliantly with Hawks. She used it very successfully.”

Orange also has representative commitments.

The Orange Toyota Thunder will be chasing a 19th consecutive Central West State League division one title this year.

The Orange Netball Association season starts on Saturday, May 3.
