West edged out East two sets to one to complete a dominant tournament in the final of the volleyball championship staged over three days in Orange this week.
Running into the final day of the championship undefeated and claiming a 2-nil win over Sydney East in their earlier meeting, Sydney West completed wins over Sydney South West and Hunter prior to the compelling grand final triumph.
The final day of the championship was a tough one for Western, with the home side suffering losses to eventual runners-up Sydney East and Hunter before falling to Sydney South West in their last match of the day.
In all, Western finished the tournament in fifth place following with their three losses yesterday adding to an impressive five wins and one loss record over the opening two days of the competition.
Rewarded for strong campaigns, Western stars Lachie Farr (Blayney) and Jordan Naylor (Kelso) earned berths in the NSWCHS side.
Predictably, champions Sydney West dominated the NSWCHS outfit along with the second placed Sydney East.
