I could not remember all the detail so I Googled “direct action”.
Without going into all the understandable detail two main points on the 5 per cent reduction of carbon emissions by 2020 are:
1. To allocate $3 billion to Australian tenders for projects designed to reduce carbon emissions instead of spending money on overseas credits. The cash stays in Australia. 2. Create a 15,000 strong Green Army who will undertake projects like restoring and rejuvenating bushland etc.
My reading of the policy seemed to be straightforward and I pondered your statement “of not really understanding the direct action policy”.
Googling gives a complete and easily readable version of direct action and in its entirety I believe the policy will do much to help Australia reach that 2020 figure of a 5 per cent reduction in carbon emissions.
